1. The wine regions of Mallorca
Mallorca is officially divided into several wine regions (Denominaciones de Origen), which stand for quality and origin:
Binissalem
The most well-known inland region, with calcareous soils and a cool, high-altitude climate. Red grape varieties are predominantly grown here.
Pla i Llevant
In the east of the island, with more sun and flatter soils. Here you can find both white and red wines.
Migjorn
In the south, the climate is somewhat drier, with strong and full-bodied wines.
2. Important grape varieties in Mallorca
Red grape varieties
Mantonegro
The main grape variety for red wines. Fruity, with aromas of red berries and spices. Pairs perfectly with Mallorcan cuisine.
Callet
Very typical for Mallorca, a rather light and elegant red wine with fine herbal notes.
White grape varieties
Prensal Blanc (also called Moll)
The most important white variety. Fresh, with fine acidity and floral notes.
Gorgollassa
A rather rare white grape variety that is fresh and aromatic.
Macabeo
Known from other Spanish wines, it provides freshness and fruitiness.

Red wines from Binissalem
Medium-bodied to full-bodied, ideal with grilled meats, stews and Mallorcan tapas.
White wines from Premsal
Fresh and light, perfect as an aperitif or with fish and seafood dishes.
Rosé wines
Increasingly popular, fruity and light – ideal for summer.
4. Tips for Enjoying Life
Serve red wine at about 16–18 °C, white wine well chilled at 8–10 °C.
Combine Mallorcan wines with regional specialties such as "Sobrasada" (spicy paprika sausage), "Ensaimada" (sweet pastry) or fresh seafood.
